Swain Wood is a member of the North Carolina State Bar and the State Bar of Georgia.
In 2006, Swain was elected by fellow North Carolina lawyers as a member of Business North Carolina Magazine's "Legal Elite," an honor bestowed on the top 3% of lawyers in the state. With particularly deep experience in copyright, trademark, and trade secret litigation, Swain has been described as one of North Carolina's leading authorities on copyright law.
Swain has successfully litigated dozens of cases in courts around the country. His litigation experience includes products liability, securities fraud, patent, copyright, trademark, and trade secret litigation, unfair competition, and professional negligence. Mr. Wood also has considerable experience representing individuals and families who have been victimized by the negligence or wrongdoing of others.
Swain is committed to pro bono efforts on behalf of individuals and charitable organizations. Swain has won many honors and awards for his pro bono work, including his work for the family of a 9/11 victim, and a Special Contribution Award from the American Lung Association in 2007.
Prior to founding Wood Law Firm, PLLC, Swain was an attorney with an international law firm in Atlanta and Raleigh, and served as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia from 1999-2000.
Born and raised in Winston-Salem, Swain has lived and worked in Washington, D.C., London, Chicago, Boston, and Atlanta. Currently Swain lives in Raleigh with his wife and three sons.
